Madeline Tosh light is a soft and beautiful yarn, made of soft and luxurious merino wool and hand dyed with stunning colors. One of the things Madeline Tosh is very good at, is creating a color way that is not seen anywhere else and suits almost everybody.
We love this yarn for sweaters, tops and shawls. See for instance our Skagen shawl and Edith top, both of which combine several of the beautiful Madeline Tosh colors for a truly unique color effect. Hand-dyed yarn like this can also be combined with other types of yarn, see for instance Brigitte B sweater and Madicken sweater where hand-dyed merino wool is combined with silk mohair to give a soft and woolen look.
Origin of the yarn:
Madeline Tosh yarn is hand dyed in Texas, USA. The base yarn is made of 100 % merino wool that is ethically sourced in South Africa. The products used for dying the yarn, is low impact, organic compound and therefore environmental friendly.
Madeline Tosh is founded by Amy Hendrix in 2006, and has grown to be one of the most famous yarns of our time.
Madeline Tosh recommends machine wash cold on gentle cycle. We recommend hand wash and dry flat. We also recommend using wool soap.
Wool does not require washing as often as other textiles, and it is therefore sustainable in daily use as it saves resources from washing. If your wool clothes need “freshing up” hanging it outside will often be sufficient.
