Isager Tweed is the tweed yarn from Isager, a beautiful yarn with the well-known tweed qualities – a great structure and characteristic color play with small specs. Isager Tweed is available in many colors, with varying degree of color play, as some colors are more mixed than others.
Isager Tweed can be knitted on its own at needle size 3,5mm, It can also be combined with other Isagers yarn such as Alpaca 1 and Silk Mohair. These combinations are popular among Danish knit designers and have been used not only for our own Dug Hat by Katrine Hannibal, but also by Helga Isager in her book k(Knit) and Annette Danielsen in her book “Ridser i overfladen”. You can see some examples here below.
Origin of the yarn:
Isager Tweed is spun and dyed in Ireland for the Danish yarn brand Isager. Isager is a respected brand among knitters in Denmark and worldwide, due to their high quality and luxurious yarn.
The company was founded by Åse Lund Jensen, who contributed greatly to the art of knitting with her yarns and knit designs. Today Isager is owned by Marianne Isager and her daughter Helga Isager, who continue to inspire knitters through their knitting books.
Isager today produce around different 20 types of yarn, all of which are of high quality and lovely to work with. See more Isager Yarn here.
We recommend hand washing your Isager Tweed.
Wool does not require washing as often as other textiles, and it is therefore sustainable in daily use as it saves resources from washing. If your wool clothes need “freshing up” hanging it outside will often be sufficient.
