This deliciously soft Alpaca 2 yarn is a lovely combination of wool and alpaca. Alpaca 2 is thicker than Alpaca 1, and we often use it individually. Alpaca 2 is suitable for needle size 3mm, and therefore still a thin yarn suitable for delicate knitting patterns.
Alpaca 2 can be combined with other types of yarn to create special structures or beautiful mixed colors. We often combine Alpaca 2 with Isager Silk Mohair, to get the slightly fluffy quality that both looks and feels soooo soft, see for instance the Bernadette sweater. Alpaca 2 can also be combined with Isager Spinni to increase the wearability of Alpaca 2 or to add softness to the more rustic Spinni wool.
Origin of the yarn:
This alpaca yarn is spun and dyed in Peru for the Danish yarn brand Isager. Isager is a respected brand among knitters in Denmark and worldwide, due to their high quality and luxurious yarn.
The company was founded by Åse Lund Jensen, who contributed greatly to the art of knitting with her yarns and knit designs. Today Isager is owned by Marianne Isager and her daughter Helga Isager, who continue to inspire knitters through their knitting books.
Isager today produce around different 20 types of yarn, all of which are of high quality and lovely to work with. See more Isager Yarn here.
Some of the colors in the Alpaca 2 series are named "Eco", meaning that they are un-dyed and therefore more environmental friendly in their production.
Wool is a natural material, and sustainable as it requires only limited processing in the transformation from wool to yarn. Wool is also sustainable in use as it does not need washing as often as other textiles, hanging it outside to freshen up will often be sufficient.
We recommend hand washing your Isager yarn at 30 degrees.
